A number of higher education institutions in China have deployed biometric solutions for access and payments in recent months, and adding to the list is Peking University. The university has now installed facial recognition readers at perimeter access gates to control access to its Beijing campus.

A university in Buenos Aires, Argentina could b set to issue multi-function, biometric-enabled student ID cards. The cards will come from manufacturer SmartMetric via the company’s regional distributor Grupo Datco.

A high school in Hangzhou City on the eastern coast of China is using facial recognition technology to monitor student attentiveness while in the classroom. Hangzhou Number 11 High School has installed three cameras at the front of the classroom to scan student faces every 30 seconds to analyze facial expressions and detect student moods.

Denmark’s Copenhagen Business School will be one of the first institutions in the world to enable students to make purchases in a restaurant and coffee shop using only their finger.

Marshall University students will soon be able to enter campus dining halls with their fingerprint, adding an alternative to the student ID card. Two campus dining facilities will be included in the biometric access system for now and students are currently engaging in the fingerprint enrollment process.

Biometric identification solutions provider, FST Biometrics, has installed its In Motion Identification (IMID) system at England’s Wellington College to provide secure access and an enhanced customer experience for students and members of the Wellington Health & Fitness Club.

Georgia Southern University is expanding the use of iris biometric access to include the campus’ state-of-the-art Recreation Activity Center. The expansion will has deploy an integrated access solution so only members can enter the facility.
