In this installment, the first in the series, hear from Rosie Amos, University Card Manager at Calgary University, as she explains the technology underpinning proximity cards.

CR80News caught up with Entrust Datacard’s VP of Software Product Management and Identity and Access Management, Dan Sanden, to talk about how the company is decoupling the card issuance process with remote photo capture and printing via its server-based TruCredential software, and then we take a peak under the hood of the company’s most advanced card printer.

Bill Norwood has been honored with the inaugural award for Lifetime Achievement in the Campus Card Industry. He was presented the award by CR80News at the 2017 NACCU Annual Conference in Orlando, in recognition of his thirty-plus years of pioneering innovation in student IDs. After founding the FSUCard program at Florida State, he went on to lead efforts at leading industry vendors, as well as assist campuses across the country and around the globe.

The latest stop on the CR80News Card Office Tour series takes us to Lynchburg, Virginia and the campus of Liberty University. Boasting one of the largest student populations in the country at 110,000 — many of whom are distance learners — the office at Liberty has quite the issuance job on its hands.

Mobile credentials, and by extension mobile access, are often thought of as being “on the roadmap” types of functions. Lots of campuses would love to have it, but few are actually moving into the mobile realm. One campus that has turned to mobile access is Emory University, where students can leverage Heartland’s OneCard Mobile solution to gain access to a campus library, as well as make purchases at select vending machines while inside.
